Book Review: The Luxe Series

I am not very good at reading books. I have a hard time sticking to a book once I have started it. I am also not an astute book critic. I read books because I think that they are fun, not to pick them apart (although I may notice some flaws). I usually like to read very easy books because I read scientific literature all day. With that being said, I really enjoyed The Luxe series.
The Luxe series is 4 books total, and I think I read all four books in about 2 weeks, which is really fast for me. These books talk about Manhattan socialites in 1899. It is basically a romance novel, with some mystery added in. I absolutely LOVED reading about all of the clothing an imagining it in my mind. It was really fun for me. The books do have some flaws: the first installment is a little bit predictable, there are a lot of cliched romance situations, etc. However, I thought the author painted a beautiful picture of what was going on, which I really enjoyed. Have you read The Luxe series? Did you like it?
If you have read a fun book/series recently, let me know! I need a new book to read! (Or... I guess I could finish the Harry Potter series. I only made it halfway through book 4. I had a hard time keeping focused during that darn tournament. I am just not interested in sports at all! But now it has been so long since I read the H.P. series that I feel like I need to start all over! ...sigh..)

I'm so glad you posted this! I love historical fictions/romances and I've been eye-balling this series. You should check out The Secret History of the Pink Carnation.

I seriously just picked up the first of these books at the library yesterday. I'm so excited to read them now! I second the Hunger Games or The Uglies Series (Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras). I also really liked Shannon Hale's "Books of Bayern" Series. These are all YA, but that's what I love best-keeps me interested :)
